Lyla Dune, author of Pleasure Island Romance series

A blog for writers, Women and Adversity: Lyla Dune

Upbeat self-published romance writer Lyla Dune, developed her Pleasure Island Romance series and has released “Low Tide Bikini.” Book 2, “Rip Tide Bikini,” will be released soon, and Book 3, “High Tide Bikini,” is due out in early summer 2014. Lyla describes the books as “hot and hilarious contemporary romance with heart” and at her Website says “Love is a vacation for the heart.”

When asked what was the biggest obstacle she had to face when she decided to become a writer, she said:

Lyla: Learning not to let other people make me feel guilty about spending my time writing. It isn’t wasting hours of my life on my computer. It is work.

What is the biggest obstacle she had to overcome when she decided to self-publish?

Lyla: Accepting the fact I would have to self-promote. In order to do that successfully, I would need to push through my introvert tendencies, stop telling myself that self-promotion was self-centered of me and annoying to others. I had to embrace the fact this particular area of the business was vital and had to be done, and done with confidence and a smile.

What is the biggest obstacle she faces now?

Lyla: The biggest obstacle I face now is making sure I put writing first, and to stay focused, without letting all the other demanding aspects of self-publishing eat away at my time and energy before I’ve actually completed the new writing I need to do each day.

Lyla’s books are available at amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, booksamillion.com and goodreads.com. Her Web site is www.lyladune.com where you can subscribe to her newsletter and contact with her on social media.
