Women’s Fiction Writers Association

I have another Holiday gift suggestion:  membership in Women’s Fiction Writers Association. This online group has the subtitle: For aspiring, debut and multi-published authors, which truly covers all writers of this genre.

It’s Website: www.womensfictionwriters.org, is clear. On its home page it states, “WFWA is a community for career-focused women’s fiction writers.” At About Us it invites those “who create stories about a woman’s emotional journey” to be members and explains it is a volunteer-run organization. It accomplishes its mission through “networking, education and continuing support in career growth.”

This online group was founded in 2013 and offers a wide range of opportunities to improve craft, meet online with other writers of women’s fiction, critique and be critiqued and read the latest news about the industry. It provides a “home” for those who don’t write true romance but include romantic elements in their stories. A woman’s journey includes many passages, and women’s fiction writers understand them.

Other opportunities this organization offers:

  • A list of agents looking for women’s fiction manuscripts
  • Pitch sessions
  • Rising Star contest
  • Quarterly e-zine, Write On!
  • Workshops

WFWA is offering its first writers’ retreat Sept.-24-27, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM.

Check out its Web site, www.womensfictionwriters.org, and consider putting this request on your gift wish list.

I published three ebooks in 2020: Women and Adversity, Honoring 23 Black Women; Women and Adversity, Recognizing 23 Notable Mothers; and Women and Adversity, Saluting 23 Faithful Suffragists to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. These books are meant to be study guides for all students from grade school through college to help in choosing topics for assignments and to learn more about these noteworthy women. Go to amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com and goodreads.com to learn more.
